Upon reading various articles about this matter, many of the authors surmised that it was "bloodless" and "peaceful" revolution in history. Contrary to what they've claimed, the gallantry of our countrymen was atrociously challenged during these times. Myriad of innocent lives were taken, ideologies vying the strongman's rule were regarded as frivolous, and rights were maimed. Nevertheless, my faith on our national anthem's lyrics "hindi ka pasisiil" has been restored. After all the countless years of abuses, exploitations, and elitism; the Filipino people refused to be stagnant. In fact, they have been enlightened and became adamant for change.
When Marcoses had been truncated from the office, Filipino people finally have triumphed over their greatest nightmare. Late president Corazon Aquino have branded her victory as the commence of "revolutionary government". Change is spontaneous, as Aquino's initiative was to amend the constitution; the highest law of the land. She made sure that provisions will be unbreakable to halt the return of authoritarian rule. It is also discernable in our preamble (part of our constitution which summarizes its authors, purposes, and goals) that there is an inclusion of the word "love". Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Muñoz - Palma has expounded it by saying "love is imperative if peace is to be restored in our native land, for without love; there can be no peace".
We always have to keep in mind that the real authors of our Constitution are the people Filipino people. The efforts of significant people whom we've lost throughout this fight were not squandered. Their sacrifices have paved way for "human-centered" government to be reconciled. February 25, 1986 was the hallmark of our victory, a historical event that will forever be imprinted in hearts of Filipino people. Democracy, inalienable rights, just and humane society will forever be upheld.
